Burton Rice was born in 1894
    in Illinois.
    Notes:
The campaign began in November 11th of 1918, on the day the war ended and fundraising continued as troops were still in France and stayed well into 1919.
This poster was commissioned by the National Catholic War Council and the Knights of Columbus. They were two different catholic organizations that decided to join forces during the war. The first was formed by priests and bishops, and the former by the laity. The Council was in charge of the organization, while the Knights brought people to help in the American camps in Europe. The Knights provided movies, literature, games, stationary and theatricals in their camps. They also accompanied the soldiers into battle, distributing tobacco, chocolates, soap and other articles.
