  • Condition: Very Good-Excellent overall antique cond: In 1917, the United States federal government, worried about wartime food shortages, passed the Food and Fuel Control Act, giving then US President Woodrow Wilson, the power to regulate the distribution, export, import, purchase and storage of food. President Wilson used this new power and legislated mandate, to create the US Food Administration under the direction of Herbert Hoover. This WWI food propaganda large folio broadside or color lithographed wall poster, shows two American doughboys on attack, with rifles and fixed bayonets, lurching ahead selflessly and heroically into the often deadly zone between the dug-out earthen trenches of the opposing armies, known as 'no man's land.' Under the graphic iconography is printed the typography that says the soldiers need fuel, namely 'wheat, meat, fats and sugar.' First painted and created by the American artist Harvey T. Dunn (USA, 1884-1952.) In simply wonderful overall antique cond. Amazing.
